The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been helping Barnsley homeless charity Centrepoint prepare lunch for the young people in its care.
Soup and bread was on the menu, as the royal couple chatted with staff and those in the charity’s care during their visit. The duke has been a patron of Centrepoint since 2005 however this was the couple’s first visit to south Yorkshire.
Whilst serving the food to residents at the shelter the duke joked: “Don’t be put off by the size of Catherine’s bread. They’re enough to wedge the door.”
The couple made the visit to Centrepoint after opening a new £50m McLaren factory alongside the Crown Prince of Bahrain. The McLaren plant is said to create 200 jobs in the area building carbon fibre chassis.
